Hair colourants

Sorry this may be a bit long. My 75 year old mum had been on a drug trial for her Squamas carcinomas and basal cell carcinoma. The drug showed some benefit but had more side effects than she was able to cope with. During the trial she lost a lot of her hair and it's now quite thin and coarse. She stayed away from all hair products as her scalp was very sore. She's now been off the drug for over 6 months. 3 months ago she did a home colour, (gold/blonde) however she says it turned her hair bright red. (I was away at the time and only found out last week) she's really upset by the condition of her hair. My question- will her hair return to normal eventually, if not would it be wortht going to a professional colourist and maybe try that. I think shop brought products wont work. Wonder if anyone else has had similar experiences.

  • Hello Undergroundbarbie,

I'm sorry to hear about your mum's situation. I'm afraid I won't be able to tell you whether her hair will go return to normal but when I read your post I thought of another one we had a while ago on Cancer Chat that might give you a few tips on how to go about your mum's hair colouring, to read more please click here.

I hope this can be of some use.

    Best wishes,
