  • Hi Reet,

I just wanted to pop by and give you a warm welcome to the forum :)

Many members who have come to the end of their cancer journey's will completely understand what you are going through right now and I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice. Some of them have found counselling to be quite helpful at this point as well. I'm not sure how much you know about it already but I have included some general information here in case you want to have a read and find out more about it.

Do have a look around the forum if you haven't had the chance to do so yet and join in on similar discussions which you can find using the 'search forum' option above. Our members are very welcoming and supportive so don't be afraid of saying hello as I'm sure they would love to hear from you and help as much as they can.

    Kind Regards,

  • Hi Reet,

I finished my treatments for cervical cancer 11 months ago and went back to work in June as well. I had a battery of surgeries and hospitalizations and 14 weeks of weekly chemo and daily radiation in parallel.

I just joined this forum because almost a year later, even though I am battling some secondary issues from the treatments, I feel like I'm back to work and to school but I am just having a hard time doing life - I can't find "normal". I totally get what you are saying, I am not the person I was before treatment.

Aside from joining this forum, I have been researching cancer sites and found that its quite common to get depressed once treatment is over and normal life is supposed to start back up. I was relieved to hear that what I'm going through is normal, but I am also seeking a therapist right now who specializes in people with chronic illnesses and also trying to get myself to be a little more active and out of the house, as I became a bit reclusive.

Hopefully we can both find the way forward from this sticking point.

  • Hi Reet

I think you are marvellous for how you are doing already.  One day you will realise you are not thinking every morning about your Breast Cancer experience, it moves to afternoon, and then less often until you become suprised one time when someone has to actually remind you about what you went through.  You'll see! x
