Lucky survivor

Hi all

I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2015 after under going whipples surgery and 6 months of chemo I am now a year free of it.  The doctors have said that I have 1 in 3 chance it will come back either in the lung or stomach as yet no signs of it having to ctrl scans every 6 months just in case he does rear it's ugly head again.  I can see from posts that a lot of you are fighting against it or have loved ones fighting.  All I can say is whilst having my treatment I have never met more brave, strong and inspirational people as the people I met whilst having my treatment.  I would just like to wish all going through an awful and perhaps painful time try to keep strong and wish you all the best and a huge hug of encouragement and best wishes to you xx

  • I have always believed that we each had an area we considered bad, and it's like a circle.

I finished radiotherapy before Christmas and on Hormone tablets So can I send you a wish, a hug and a prayer to stay safe, happy & well.

  • Hi Ang,

My experience is very similar to yours having had my whipple in 2013. I'm still clear in terms of the pancreatic cancer and echo your comments about the brave people I met along the road to recovery - amazing people. Stay strong everyone and remember to love your loved ones everyday.

Unfortunately I now have Prostate Cancer. That said there are positive elements insofar it is totally unrelated to my pancreatic cancer - which would be terrible news. I start treatment shortly but it is another reminder of the really important things in life and the truly kind and good people who treat this awful disease.

BTW- I now count you as one of those brave inspirational people - thank you for posting.

    Dave
