Hi everyone

I'm Kaz and new to this forum. I'm a survivor of cervical cancer and looking for advice re anxiety related depression. My relationship with my husband is suffering too. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

  • Hi Kaz

i'm a survivor of breast cancer. I work In mental health. The day after I was diagnosed i went to see my GP and started taking citalopram, an anti-depressant that also works to suppress anxiety. It has helped me enormously. I also had counselling through a local cancer support charity. That also helped. I was a quivering wreck but 3 years on I am getting by. Health anxiety after cancer is really quite normal after what we have been through and you will keep on getting better. Don't be afraid to ask for help. You're not on your own.

  • Hi Kaz,

I'm a survivor of Ewings Sarcoma and have too struggled with anxiety. I've found CBT sessions really helpful and after 6 sessions, I'm finding it so much easier to respond differently to my feelings. I've felt a real strain on my marriage too, but these therapy sessions have really encouraged me to speak up and work together. We still have our moments but he is having more of an understanding and I try to tell him if I'm anxious about something at the time it happens rather than burying it for days but exploding if he doesn't take the bin out for example!

    Hope this helps!
