Also feeling under the weather on this medication and feeling very up and down and stopped smoking so that's killing me. 
Very hard when you're supposed to continue like nothing happened

I have been on Tamoxifen now for just under 5 years. I started with really bad nausea but this stopped when I started taking the tablet at night thankfully. I was attending SW as I was concious to have a good diet to help me recover from the cancer and radiotherapy and couldn't understand why I was putting weight on. My diet was brilliant and I was walking in the mountains at weekends and lower level walks every evening after tea. I spoke to the consultant about my concerns as was told to join a slimming club or something! Not at all helpful and I sat there in tears saying I was already in a club. That appointment was 2 years ago and I know look  like I'm 9 months pregnant! I have been having blood tests on and off now for 12 months and I have had to beg the doctor to send me for an ultrasound to check all is ok as my mum died of endometrial cancer and my dad died of a brain tumour. I have the appointment tomorrow and part of me wants there to be a medical reason for this weight gain of nearly 4 stone in 5 years. I now struggle to go for lengthy walks on the flat as my breathing is so bad I have to keep an inhaler to hand. Reading the posts on this forum gives me a little comfort that I am not alone and not as my partner thinks OVER EATING

I am new to this. In fact I don't really use any social media. 
 

I started taking tamoxifen in August this year. I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer; had 3 active lymph nodes; a mastectomy; chemotherapy and then radiotherapy which ended in early September. 7.5 months of highs and lows but it was worth it to feel well again. 

I feel so much better than I did before my diagnosis. I do get side effects from tamoxifen - achy joints, hot flushes, feel a bit frustrated occasionally - but I take the view that it's stopping my cancer from coming back. I'm only 50, have 3 children, a lovely husband, a very rewarding and demanding job - cancer was a real inconvenience and a challenge. I would never let it defeat me. I stay positive ahd enjoy every day (i have taken to reading a lot when I can't sleep at night). 
 

I have found that long dog walks in the fresh air help, along with a healthy diet and no alcohol. I really do feel well.

I am so sorry to read how much other people are suffering with side effects. I think I might have been lucky.

Hi.. I was looking back at the posts too and can definitely relate..I started tamoxifen in January after chemo and radiation..Since taking it i feel like a shell of myself..Restless legs hot flashes low mood agitated just feeling like *** really..I met with my oncologist today and we decided that i will stop taking it for 2 months to see of if my mood and general feeling of *** leaves...I'm back in November to see how i am and if i will go back on it

Hey SammySue, how are you feeling now ? 
I recently took a break from tamoxifen and felt great but had to start Letrozole on 3 Aug which I think are just starting to kick in as now feeling aches in joints and low again. This sucks but I guess the alternative sucks more. I think I need to keep reminding myself of that but it is hard to do so.
