I have been cured from cancer last year and recently i have been going to the gym everyday. I have been trying to get back to normal but my socialising skills have gone down. I am confident, i dont know what it is. Tips?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Sz1111,

I'm glad to hear you've made it through your cancer journey but I'm sorry to hear you've having a few problems socialising since your journey ended. Many members who have made it through will understand what you're going through having been in similar situations themselves and I'm sure they will post soon to offer their support and advice.

In the meantime have a look around the forum and feel free to chat to others as I'm sure they'd love to hear from you.

    Best Wishes,

  • Hi I was given the all clear this March and before my diagnosis was a regular gym goer. I went back to the gym 2 days after my scan results. It was difficult at first as people didn't know what to say etc. but it was great just to get back amongst people. My biggest tip for getting back into normality would be to be pro-active and put yourself in situations that you were comfortable with before with people who know you. If you find yourself wondering what other people are thinking or if people are 'looking ' then all I did was initiate the discussion and I found people just wanted to find out how I was. Once the initial conversation was over then ever onwards! Also engage with the people at the gym as much as possible as they are there for the same reasons as you and are usually only too willing to talk about training routines and exercises. I hope this helps in some way. Cheers..and KEEP TRAINING!!
