Hello

Hi

I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer 15 months ago. Scan following chemo and radiotherapy was thankfully clear.  Unfortunately I developed a lymphoedema in my leg in June this year.  The impact on my life has been enormous.  I feel so down, but at the same time feel ashamed, when so many others have incurable cancer.  I would like to hear from fellow sufferers on how they cope with lymphoedema.

Thank you.

  • hi I had breast cancer 2 years ago and had all my lymph nodes removed I also had chemo, radio and a lumpectomy this left we with lymphoedema in my arm (I know completely different to what you have) I've got a fantastic lympoedema nurse where I go every 6/7 weeks where she massages the area for ablout 45 mins it feels lovely afterwards yes the fluid does build back up but she also gives advice on how to help keep it down I also wear a sleeve on my arm which also helps. I also go swimming and still do the small exercises I was told to do after the op. if you don't already go to a lymphoedema clinic a suggest you go to see your doctor and ask to be referred. hope this helps a little take care :)
  • Hi Lynn Thanks for replying to my post. I am already under the Lymphoedema Team but massage does not reduce the swelling. I've heard that bandaging can help but my local clinic is under resourced and currently cannot offer me this. It is early days for me and still trying to accept. Thank you for helping.
