What a difference a year makes!

hi folks, well nearly a year ago as now I was about to get the shock of my life when I was diagnosed with a 7cm left kidney cancer. This year I have just come down to earth today after spending an amazing day at Wimbledon where I sat through two women's matches on centre court with my daughter,  we ate strawberries and cream and sipped our Pimms. We sat on Henman's Hill, or is that Murray's Mount And enjoyed the sunshine. It was an amazing day and I will recall the memory far easier than being told I have cancer. Live life to the full folks and enjoy every minute you can.

  • Thanks for coming on the forum and updating us on how you are doing. We remember you well from last year. It's great to hear you are feeling so well, enjoying Wimbledon eating strawberries and cream. Sounds like heaven really! The weather has been mild recently so I am glad you are living life to the full.

We had a member, Dixonw, who posted just a few days ago, who has kidney cancer and wanted to speak to others in the same situation. You can read Dixonw's post here and don't hesitate to respond if you want to share your story with someone who is currently going through kidney cancer.

It's great to hear from you and best wishes,

  • Hi Jeanne, great to hear your news.  I have just been told I am in remission after having Ovarian Cancer and can't wait for me to be able to say a year has gone by. I am also trying to make new good memories and hope that we can go on our 25th Anniversary holiday sometime next year as had to cancel this year (just as an aside, the insurance didn't pay up so we lost our deposit! althougth I do say I have got over that now - perhaps I haven't). We are going away for a long weekend for my Birthday so I am looking forward to that.

  • Hi Clammy, so pleased to hear your good news, hope you continue to enjoy life, and congratulations on you're 25th anniversary. Hope you enjoy your weekend. Every trip I take now seems to mean so much more to me, I have just been away again to Llandudno for a week with 6 of our lifelong friends and my dear husband Ron, it was our 35th anniversary on 4th July (independence day haha), it was also my birthday on 13th and Ron's birthday on 15th July so we had a great celebratory week. Our next trip won't be until our annual trip to Lanzarote, we are going on 11th Dec this year for 2 months. I also have a problem with insurance, last year our existing insurance with HSBC would not cover me even though the trip was already booked prior to the cancer and the insurance was ongoing. I did get insurance but had to pay the price! I'll have to wait and see what happens this year, one year on. Anyway my philosophy now is enjoy yourself, money isn't everything :-) Stay well
