Letrozole

Hi, In 2009 I was diagnosed with fallopian tube cancer had surgery and chemo and recovered well. Since then I've had blood work and a check every year and been fine. This year I was too until I mentioned that I'd found a small lump in my right breast. A few days and a lot of tests later I was diagnosed with primary breast cancer.  I had lumpectomy surgery and IORT and was told I would just need frequent check ups and hormone therapy. My oncologist recommended Letrozole but I have read so many women have had horrendous side effects, I just wanted to ask if anyone had been able to take this drug and tolerate it well because thus far I have read only negative things.I realise that I've been lucky to survive cancer twice but at 72 I would like to have some quality of life for the time I have left.

  • Hello JayK,

A big welcome to our friendly forum. I hope you will get chatting here to others who have tried Letrozole - as you know side effects will vary from one person to the next but it is always interesting to read other people's experiences. I remember welcoming someone recently who mentioned being on letrozole. You can read her thread here and respond to it if you want.

I would also suggest you have a read of this thread by dawn1974 in which several of our members share their experiences of this drug. Feel free to reply to them and ask them any questions.

We have some information on letrozole on our website here which may also be useful to you.

Our nurses are also available for a chat if you have any questions. You can reach them on this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

I hope this helps a little!

    Best wishes,
