Fatigue

Hello.  I'm 5 months in remission for DLBCL stage 2E (started in my jaw/face).  8 rounds of R-CHOP and then 15 fractions of radiotherapy, I've been out of treatment for a whole 8 weeks.  Been back at work for 5 months (money is the only reason, could not live on SSP alone).  My question is, how on earth do we overcome the dizziness, tiredness and joint and muscle aches..... I just don't see an end to it.  Every joint in my body hurts.  The tiredness and lack of concentration dreadful, and the dizzy spells are awful.  Are there any magic supplements one can take, or ask the GP for that will help this to go away?  Please fll me with hope, I think I'm going to add depression to the list too.  I'm only 46 and desperate to get my spring back.... Thank you.

  • Hi there and welcome to the forum, but sorry for why you're here. I just finished 12 rounds of radiation (they tell me I had a double treatment each time) for lung cancer. I had my last treatment mid Feb. and I thought I was doing pretty good, but the last few weeks I am so fatigued that I can't get out of my own way. I also got a cold about a month ago and I stll have the cough something terrible. I know what you mean by fatigue - I am older than you, but I was never this useless before. Its' an effort just to drag myself out of bed in the morning and I'd just as soon cover my head with the covers and stay right there. As for doing things that I used to enjoy, well that isn't happening. I'm seriously considering having someone in to clean the apt. as I am really struggling with keeping up with it and one thing I do want is a clean house.

I don't know how you drag yourself in to work every day feeling like this. It must be so hard for you, but I know when you need the money, you don't have a lot of choice. If you get any magic answers to getting rid of some of these ailments, I'll be interested in knowing what they are. With the weekend upon us, you hopefully will get a bit of a break from work.

    Take care.

  • Thank you Jane for that link. I mentioned that I was feeling really drained to my oncologist the last time I saw her, but she said "you're *** fine". How does she know? Perhaps what she sees makes her think I'm fine, but I know how I feel. Even the surgeons treating me can't believe I can look so good with all I've been through. Looks can be deceiving because most days, I have all I can do to drag one foot behind the other. Its' good to know that what I'm feeling is not "all in my head." Now, if I can find a solution to it, I'll take it. I found that article on fatigue really helped.

    Thanks
