I had kidney cancer three years ago, and the surgeon wanted to just take the affected portion out. I was not sure whether it would come back, though, so I elected to have the whole kidney removed. So far, I have not had any problems with it, although my brilliant surgeon did say that the lungs would be affected if the cancer was still ther. I am going for my yearly checkup in April, and do not expect any problems. I suppose what I am trying to say is that some cancers CAN be eliminated by surgery, and it is very important to stay positive. It is also very important to make sure that EVERYTHING that can be done, is done. I follow up on all of my appointments, and check that everything is in the pipeline. I am lucky, I have a wonderful group of doctors and surgeons, and they are very supportive, but not everyone is as fortunate. So, always keep your chin up, and expect the best.
