Sports massage

I had my mastectomy last September (no reconstruction) and I'm back to my regular sporting activities of running, weights and rowing.  Some of my friends are taking me to a spa next week but I've been refused any of the massage treatments and offered a manicure!  Why?  Has anyone else experienced this?  If so, how did you deal with it?  Thanks, Roz

    Hi Rozfitz

    I believe that you have to be knowlegeful when massaging those who have had radical surgery for cancer especially where lymphatic system is concerned. I have been refused Indian head massage for this reason as I have had lymph nodes removed from my neck and told that without specialist knowledge they could cause damage. I guess they have to be cautious, they dont want to injure you and even less to be sued. Just enjoy the manicure. Kim
