Daughter with Mother on Tamoxifen

My Mum has been on tamoxifen for over a year now after her end with breast cancer. I'm just struggling with the side effects it's bringing. Since she's been taking them she's been very stand off ish. She has bad mood swings and it can make very very nasty towards me. I try to sympathise because of the purpose of them but am finding it really hard. She's almost a different person, hardly makes conversation, doesn't pay much interest towards me. Her comments can be nasty and irrelivent. Before she started taking them we had s close bond and I just feel like she can sometimes be s totally different person. Any suggestions on how I could help or any advice would be really appreciated. I love my mum and just want her back toher normal self.

  • Hello yeahhso,

It must be really hard for you to have to see your mum go through all these terrible mood swings. I thought I would come along and bump your thread as I am sure many on this forum will have had similar experiences with Tamoxifen. If you are based in the UK, you could also ring our nurses if you want to discuss these on this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

You can also read more information about Tamoxifen side effects here.

I am sure many on this forum will be along to tell you how Tamoxifen affected them and what kinds of side effects they themselves suffered.

    Best wishes,
