Frankly, my gut feeling is to advise you to change your GP to someone who will listen to you. I'm not a clinician but isn't Nibido a testosterone replacement whose most common side effect is weight gain? This is why cheats use it as a way of body building in cycling and athletics.

Hi Mascotty,

I also have had weight gain due to the hormone therapy for my prostate cancer. I had got my weight down to just over thiteen stone but since my two years on hormone therapy, went up to 14 1/2 stone and just cant seem to lose it. So I do sympathise.

thanks for your valuable advice, its appreciated, I am considering changing my GP but need to find out one who specialises in cancer, they seem to be a million miles apart, I have had a message from the nurses from here  and will be contacting them shortly, just frustrated at the moment I cannot shift it even at the gym I can only carry out certain excercises due to joint pains again gp's just prescribing pain killers and telling me to get on with it. 

If I could cheat to build muscle and lose weight it would be great and when I first started them the GP on first consultan after the chemo and the first injections said 'wow' should have a lot of muscles soon, wasnt sure if he was being sarcastic or not.

Again appreciate your advice

thanks for your reply and sympathy, have taken Dave's comments onboard and will have a chat with the practice manager and take it from there, it just frustrates me everywhere I seem to turn I get to a brick wall, am seriously thinking about just ot being here at the moment, I hate the fat.

Think Dave's suggestion is a good one and could also be worth asking for referal to a dietician (if you have not already tried this route).  My husband's cancer specialist made the appointment for him but I am sure a GP could do the same.

Having dealt with my friend's 'cancer linked' fat hate in the past I can only wish you all the very best and tell you that this forum is a great place to offload. Good luck  Jules54

Thanks for your advice, it is appreciated, I now have isssues trying to book an appointment with the GP and I snapped today, asked fro an emergency appointment tonight as they close at 8pm and the reception advised there was no appointments tonight and the next available one is for two weeks, I told her dont bothere as I would be probably dead and the doctor will have to come to my house to confirm my death wich would put him out as well,  and I hung up,

I will be taking Dave's advice and although little difficult at the moment due to work commintments cant take a lot of time off astill playing cach up with debts from being off with the operation and chemo that I am not worried about, my issue is that no GP seems to be qualified in the after effects of cancer and with no disrespects to them something needs to be done about it, at the end of the day, its our lives they are playing with.

Please don't worry about ranting; it's definitely a way of getting it out. Some receptionists 'run' the doctors and not the other way round (we were very lucky on hubby's journey because he told his GP that he could not 'get past the receptionist' when he needed urgent appointment and she made appointments for him before he left the surgery- luck of the drawer perhaps).  Does your surgery run 'triage calls' - if we ring our surgery first thing and ask for a triage call they arrange for doctor to ring back when he is free(usually once morning surgery/rounds are sorted) and then you could discuss matters with him direct. 

I cannot begin to imagine how frustrated and angry you are just now but hang in there. Really hope the treatment that has caused the 'side effect' of weight gain has helped with the cancer itself but when work commitments allow please approach your surgery again  or alternatively go in person and choose a time when you woudld be willing to take the 'wait until seen' approach. I am so sorry this is so hard for you so sending a virtual hug. All the best  Jules
