My Journey Continues

Hi all my forum buddies.  Just wanted to post on a new thread as it is more relevant than where my journey began.  Hope to see you here. Jules

  • Hi Jules,

Hope you are well but bet you are like the rest of us; fed up with all this rain and wind. From the sound of the forecast, I dont think you will be going for your walk again this weekend.

I met up with my sister and two of her friends from Chichester yesterday and we went to a leaflet give away. There were lots of places from all round Sussex/ Kent advertising their attractions. Found two or three places I didnt know about and when the weather improves (If it ever does) I will take Mrs B to see them.  I also found two places that are prepared to come and give a talk to our club so a good mornings work.

I now have my new dentures and am very pleased with them. The only downside is where I had a wisdom tooth out recently, the gum is still very sore and the plate is rubbing on that part. Makes it very uncomfortable. But at least when I smile, you can now see I have teeth, ha ha.

Have been continuing my clearing of old paperwork, I had some going back to 2002. So my little shredder has been doing overtime. But I have just bought a micro cross cut shredder and wished I had bought this ealier. Instead of having to fold two sheets of A4 paper, the new one will take six sheet and they dont have to be folded. So much quicker and it will even handle staples as well.

Just finnishing off this months newsletter for the club and have some new features to put in this month. We also now have the date for our two thre-day shows at Wakehurst Place for May and August. Someone else is organising them this year as the committee felt I had taken on too much work.

Well take care. Hope you are not growing webbed feet with all this rain. I suppose we shoudent moan as at least we have not had it like some poor devils.

Take care and stay safe. sending best wishes to you and your family, Brian

  • Hi Brian,

Just returned from my Saturday stroll. Crazy weather conditions but left in the dry, walked just over six miles and whilst it was very muddy and wet underfoot no rain until I began the walk home when I was pelted with small hailstones, sleet and rain ha ha.  Enough exercise for one day I think!!

Must have been lovely catching up with your sister and her friends plus learning of new places to take Mrs B when the weather allows.

Hopefully the sore area in your mouth will soon heal and pleased that you are much happier now you have y our new set of gnashers.  Funny you should mention the wisdom tooth. I had a 'dormant' wisdom tooth when I had to have dentures but they shaped the plate in such a way that it fits round that area.....in the last year it has decided to come through the gum so will have to keep an eye on it!!

It seems that the poor weather has got us all 'spring cleaning' as I also have taken the opportunity of more time indoors to have a clear out though my paperwork pretty much up to date as I tend to clear out once a year.

Can't believe it will be March tomorrow though the garden is telling me that Spring is on the way. I have crocus, daffodils, forsythia and miniature tulips in bloom as well as my quince blossom out and of course the ever hardy primulas.

Foodies Market locally tomorrow so meeting up with a friend there and then on Monday going to Kew to visit the Orchid festival.

Stay safe and well and all the best to you and Mrs B and the family too.

    Jules

  • Hi Jules

Mrs B bought a couple of bunches of mixed roses the other day. So today I took a photo of them and using photoshop I have removed the background. Hope you like it, Brian.

  • Hi Brian & Jules, pictures are still as great as I remember them. Hope you both are doing well.

  • Hi Diane,

How lovely to see your post.  Hope you are doing okay.  Life rumbling along for me and planning to retire (finally) in the Summer.  Spent today at Kew Gardens.  My Dad loved it there and this would have been his 97th birthday. Fond memories of childhood outings. Jules

  • Hi Brian,

Lovely flowers; lucky Mrs B and the photo is very good too.

Beautiful this morning so just answering some mail and then of out to gym and a bit of shopping before hoping to go see a film.  Lots of walking in the sunshine yesterday at Kew. It certainly lifts the spirits to be able to enjoy a break in the weather.  Making the most of today as back into work tomorrow ha ha.

Take care of yourself and best regards to you both and the family.  Jules

  • Hi Diane,

Hope you are okay and have not been affected by floods. Thanks for your kind words regarding the photos.

Nice to see the sun again today.

Take care and best wishes to you and your family, Brian.

  • Hi Jules, yes I'm just plodding along these days. Crazy how much time goes by. I suppose life just gets in the way, I surely miss this lovely community.

I'm well and taking it easy. Weather has been ridiculous lately hasn't it, even the cat didn't want to go out. Heard on the radio this February was the highest recorded rainfall in the books! I don't like driving when the roads are flooding and to be honest the roads in general are hectic. My nerves can't take it, so I've been using my bus pass lately going into town and getting about. To me the bus is less hassle though I'm not sure I'm in the majority with that lol. The young ones all want cars.

It will take some adjusting to retirement Jules but overtime I'm sure you'll come to quite enjoy having the free time on your hands to do some other things.

  • Hi Jules,

Hope you have managed to keep dry in all this wet weather. If we get much more I shall start to grow webbed feet and feathers. Bet you have been frustrated not being able to get out for your usual walks.

Had some good news yesterday; had the results of my recent blood test and my psa has dropped once again so very pleased with that. Nice to see a blue sky again this morning. I dont think I mentioned this but I used to buy lots of barometer inserts and turn the wooden surrounds for them. Suddenly the prices almost doubled bso I stopped buying them. But every now and then I have a look on the internet and yesterday to my surprise, I found a company selling them at a reasonable price so I have ordered a few to see what the quality is like. I will try them out and let you know the outcome.

I wasnt able to wear my new dentures for a week as where I had a wisdom tooth out was very sore but have got them in today. Going to take some getting used to but at least now when I smile you can see I have teeth ha ha.

Garden is so wet but Mrs B's bluebells are growing like mad and I hope will soon be in flower. We also have forsythia in bloom and primroses of course. Roses are sprouting new growth.so the wet doesnt seem to have affected the plants.

I have ordered a solar powered owl for Mrs B for mothering Sunday. Its meant for the garden but knowing her, I bet she will want to keep it indoors ha ha.Talking of solar power, I bought a small solar powered light to go in our porch and its brilliant and give plenty of light. Our wood club starts back next week and we are doing a reprise of our November show. We ask people to bring in their exhibits and give a short talk about them. Its always a good evening.

Hope you have a good weekend. Take care and am sending kind thoughts to you and your family, Brian

  • Hi Diane,

Making the most of day to day has always been important and becomes more so when we lose relatives and friends.

I doubt I will have too much of a problem in retirement terms as I only do part time (two shifts now) so not a huge adjustment. With free travel in London I have been increasing my activities and there is always plenty to see and do thankfully. Whilst I have my health I still go to the gym several times a week, walk many miles and have begun going to the cinema(we have weekly senior screenings costing just £3 which includes a cuppa and biscuit at a local cinema and I go along if the film being showed interests me) and theatre more during the bad weather. Walking in the rain just means better clothes planning ha ha.

Busy weekend ahead with an event in London I plan on going to tomorrow followed by a bit of baby sitting for my son and then dinner with the family on Sunday and going with a friend to the Albert Hall on Monday evening to enjoy music from the musicals.  Life is not dull at the moment.

I am going away for a few days with my daughter and family during the school Easter break (Lincolnshire self catering) and travel restrictions permitting have a holiday in Italy in June booked.

As I do not drive I am very lucky to have a good public transport network to take me here and there and am a regular visitor to Kew Gardens and local parks for my walking pleasure.

I have never really left this supportive community though it often amazes me when I realise how long I have been a part of it.  The understanding here has always helped me cope alongside my family and friends. Five years since I lost hubby and then Mum last year but life has to rumble on taking our memories along for the ride.

    Look after yourself.  Jules x
