My Journey Continues

Hi all my forum buddies.  Just wanted to post on a new thread as it is more relevant than where my journey began.  Hope to see you here. Jules

  • Hi Brian,

Laptop issues (very slow now) and wifi outages (gusty winds) are meaning it is hit and miss as to when I can get messages sent.  Am waiting to hear when I can pick up new laptop (they have it on order and will configure it before I collect it).

I will probably still use the auto button for many of my photographs but lots of information for my close up shots (off auto) and learning what certain settings can do certainly could prove useful.  Was also lovely to meet up with like-minded amateurs under the watchful eye of the professional who took the course.

Dentistry costs for 'just a look' have definitely increased since the last time I went! Hopefully you will  be able to get the work done as and when you are allowed but may need to cut down on the chestnuts to cover the cost ha ha.

Plenty of rain here too but have managed time in the garden this week and the lawn has been mowed again and edges tidied. Did some weeding in between the rain showers yesterday but it does seem as though Autumn has begun and certainly noticing the nights drawing in.  Still not had to put the heating on so cannot complain.  The shame is that with the high winds/rain we have had and promised in the coming days, we will probably lose a lot of the leaves before having time to enjoy the splendid Autumn colour.  Have planted winter pansies so there is still some colour in the colour alongside the ice-plane and nerine bowdenii (not sure of the spelling  ha ha).  Slowly trimming  back the summer flowering shrubs before the weather gets too bad.

All change at work as our lovely young manager leaves and a new one begins. Not the ideal time of year for it but just like last year we will muddle through no doubt.  I am setting my sights on July 2020 when I  hope to hang up the work hat!!

You imagination must be running riot with so many stories in the making but an ideal hobby for the coming months when we tend to be based indoors more.

Hope you and Mrs B are still doing well with your recovery and curbing the impulse to do too much.

Best regards to you both and the family.  Jules

  • Hi Jules

Have just finished one of my new stories (16000 + words 38 pages) and now have to do our club newsletter as it is almost the end of the month. Have written a full page artical regarding timbers I used to use years ago on a regular basis and which are now classed as being on the endangered list. Quite frightening.

Mrs B and I pruned our roses back yesterday. we wernt able to do it last year as we left it a bit late and the weather closed in. So they really needed doing as Mrs B couldnt even reach the top of them for they had grown so tall. Even I had trouble reaching some of them. We now have two black bags full of the trimming and some of them had wicked great big thorns on them. Glad we did it yesterday as we certainly wouldnt be doingit today ha ha.

Spoke to my sister last night who lives in southern Alberta, Canada and she told me it was snowing heavily. They were forcasting between 1 to 3 foot of snow. Just think what would happen if we had that much. I told her if we only get a couple of inches the country vitually shuts down It was nice to speak with he and catch up on the family news.

Mrs B has done very well and has to see her surgeon on Thursday for her results. She is hoping she wont have to go for radiation treatment.

Had better press on as she want me to do another on-line shoping list

Sending kind thoughts your way, Brian

  • Hi Brian,

Will have everything crossed (within reason) on Thursday and hope Mrs B get lots of good news after doing so well with her recovery.

Tried posting on the old machine but kept losing it half way through so hopefully with my nice new shiny laptop things will now improve.  Having said that I have a lot of new ways to do things (now having the benefit (or not) of Windows 10).

How good that you have finished another story and with the Autumn upon us no doubt more time spent indoors.  I too have managed to prune the roses but some of my summer shrubs/flowers are still blooming so dead heading currently a chore as and when the weather allows.

Into work under the new manager for the first time tomorrow so once again wondering how she will run the 'ship' and will definitely miss the strength and character of our previous guy. As always time will tell and will certainly try not to rock the boat or pre-think how she will 'manage'.  A woman at the helm for the first time since I began there (21 yrs ago)!!

Went shopping with a friend yesterday and though not surprised to see the shops setting up for Christmas (something we have to look forward to in the coming weeks) was amazed at how many were actually getting their shopping down early. I have three family birthdays in the next two months so they will take sorting first even though I do have a couple of bits (seen on my travels) ready for the festivities.......time is passing all too quickly.

Take care of each other my virtual friend.  Jules

  • Hi Jules

Hope your first day with the new manager went well. I also hope that you are slowly getting to grops with your new laptop. I have found windows 10 works well for me. My only gripis they have dropped off or greatly changed some of the programs I used to use

Am on the finishing pages of the next story and hope to finnish by Saturday at the latest. Started my car yoday as the battery only just started the engine. So left it running in the garage for 30 minutes.

My young grandson has to have an op tommorrow. so I am keeping finger crossed for him and Mrs B, (Which is slowing my typing down something shocking) Ha ha

Take care , my good friend, Brian

  • Hi Brian,

Arrived at work to find the new manager is off for the two days I am working so perhaps I will bump into her next week ha ha!!

A few teething problems with the laptop so currently in contact with TeamKnowHow as it is not letting me activate 'Cloud storage and I keep getting pop up messages on my screen about fixing faults and that I need to connect to the internet.............which I am obviously able to do as have had no problem accessing  other sites..  Hey ho it is early days.

Wishing your grandson all the very best for his op (nothing too serious I hope) and like you will have fingers crossed for him and Mrs B as she goes back for her post op appointment.

My poor luck seems to be continuing elsewhere in the house as the blind at my window fell down as I was about to leave for work this morning so another job to be fixed with the handy screwdriver no doubt.

Thankfully I can forget all about it later as am meeting a friend for a curry night.

Take care and you will all be in my thoughts.  Jules

  • Hi Jules,

I am very pleased to report Mrs B had good news on Wednesday. They have removed all the cancer and have clear margins. The lympth nodes they removed were also clear. She was very pleased. She is now waiting for another appiontment to see an oncologist to see if he thinks she should have radio therapy  or just tamoxifan or maybe both.

My young grandson s op went well and it was recomemded he didnt go into school for the rest of the week, much to his delight.

Sorry to hear about your blind and hope you were able to fix it.okay. Annoying when things like this happen. I have got to take the one in out toilet down as the plastic pull cord ahs come out and the blind is now stuck in the same position.

Have just bought a pan for cooking my chestnuts on; Its just like a big frying pan only with holes in the bottom. I can use it on the electic hob.  Just need the nuts to go with it now ha ha.

Will try to mow the lawns today if it is dry enough;  It may well be the last time we can do it.this year

Sending kind thoughts to you and your family, Brian

     (Ctrl/Cmd+V)Hi Brian,

Really delighted to hear the great news regarding Mrs B's results and that your grandson is now recovering at home.

Am still having issues with the computer but no doubt the help team will iron this out eventually.  In the scheme of things it is but a minor irritation and perhaps a good thing as I am not spending so much time on it ha ha.

New pan for your chestnuts sounds a great addition and it wont be long before you are tucking into your favourite fresh variety I am sure.  The supermarkets are certainly creating plenty of seasonal space and I will be spreading my purchases over the coming weeks as having the family to me for the first time since I lost hubby (yet another box will get that tick!!).

Absolutely no chance of getting my lawn mowed at the moment.  So much rain last week so is very wet indeed. Although yesterday was dry the ground definitely not and now it is raining again. Grr.

Had my daughter and family and looked after their new dog addition for a few hours whilst they went to a Christening.  He was very good indeed but did often check out the window to see if they had come  back...cute!  Today my sister in law returns after her break in Germany and will stop over for a couple of nights before driving up to Hailsham to catch the ferry home.

Hoping this posts as the computer giving weird messages about having to copy/paste to  be able to send it...…...all in a days work.

Send kind thoughts to you all and have a pleasant week. Jules

  • Hi Ju les

Sorry I have not posted much of late. The other night I had to take Mrs B into A & E as her wounds started weeping badly we spent all night at the hospital and finally she was released in the morning. Yesterday she had a call to go back with an overnight bag and all her medication. and we spent all afternoon in A & E  and finally she was admited to a ward at about six o clock. They gave her an injection of penicillin and were going to put her on a drip. Her surgeon is going to see her this morning.so hope we will know more later.  Luckily I was told I was able to start driving again oterwise I would have had to call an ambulance. Will let you know what happen as soon as I can, Brian

  • Hi Brian,

So sorry to read your message especially after Mrs B had been doing so well with her recovery.  My thoughts are with you both and hope it wont be long before you have a clearer idea of the problem and that treatment will be fast and successful once she has been seen by her surgeon.

I am sure it is helpful having the car back to enable you to travel easier especially at times like these.

Virtual hugs sent to you both.  Jules

  • Hi Jules,

They told Mrs B she will be in all weekend I was with her from 3.00 p.m. until about 7.30 p.m yesterday. I took some food and meds in with me so I didnt have to come home for my tea.The chair I was sitting on started growing on to me and I just had to leave. She asked me to take her in her wordsearch book today, but but the hospital shop was still open so I bought her one plus a pen so at least she will have something to do this morning. The wound has stopped leaking thankfully and it is not as swollen as it was, so hopefully the antibiotics are working. She is in pretty good spirits surprisingly. I have just boiled and mashed some potatoes and made them into cakes which I will fry later for my dinner

Have done the ironing plus the washing today as I dont want her coming home and starting work which I know she would do. Its probably,,,,,,,,,,,, in fact definately not up to her standard but at least its done ha ha.(So will I be if its not done right ha ha) Have also hoovered throughout the house and washed the kitchen floor. Makes me appreciate just what hard workers you ladies are. House does seem empty without her here.

I hope you have a decent weekend but the weather doesnt look good for walking in. Take care Jules. Sending best wishes to you and your family, Brian
