My Journey Continues

Hi all my forum buddies.  Just wanted to post on a new thread as it is more relevant than where my journey began.  Hope to see you here. Jules

  • Hi Brian, sorry to butt into your message to Jules but was delighted to see you found a great stash of cannon balls, twice!

Hope the jab wasn't too painful for you and, with your talent for story telling, I imagine the magazines will be biting your hand off for more once you've sent the first ones in. Do let us know where & when so we can enjoy them too!. Take care  Sue x

  • Hi Sue,

Thanks for the post. I am enjoying the chestnuts very much and everyone who has seen them have said they have never seen such big ones. Apparently they are french ones.

The jab was okay and I have decided to do a series of mini short stories based arround old sayings like One good turn deserves another. A friend told me that womens magazines are always on the look out for short stories so will have a look over the weekend as to where to send them. Will let you know if I have any luck; I'm not holding my breath but have nothing to lose.

Hope you have a peaceful and relaxing weekend, Brian

  • Hi Sue and Brian

Am having trouble with getting my posts to 'take' and have twice tried to reply individually to you both. Not ignoring you honest just technology grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Sue, I hope tomorrow goes well for you and that you will feel better once that initial massage is out of the way and you have more idea of what lies ahead (and maybe some training for at home too).

    Brian,

Glad the 'nutty season' is upon you once more and you are enjoying large nuts (even finding devious ways to return to the shop; what will Mrs B do with you.

Have to attend a business meeting later this morning with regards to hubby's Estate so am a little apprehensive as to how my emotions will be but onwards  and upwards; needs must.

Hoping this will be third time lucky and sending you both good wishes for the weekend ahead. Take care .Jules xx

  • Good morning Jules,

Sorry to read you have had problems posting. I had this the other day but my problem is down to my laptop; the mouse pointer keeps jumping about when I havent even touched anything.

I hope your meeting this morning goes well without the emotions surfacing but just remember we are here for you at any time. I am pleased you liked todays quotes.

The series of short stories I am writting are all going to be based around old fashioned sayings like "A Stitch in Time" ect as I think they are as relavent in todays society as they were when first written. It's something to keep the old grey matter ticking over. I think of most of my stories when I am in bed at night when its quite and there are no distractions like the T.V.

I wish you a pleasant weekend and hope you find time to relax and re-charge the batteries so to speak as I am sure work will be getting busier in the run up to Christmas. Talking of this, I saw somewhere where they are saying we should say Happy Holiday rather than Happy Christmas but this guys not for changing and will continue as I always have done. Political correctness has gone to far as far as I am concerned.

Take care; sending kind thoughts and best wishes to you and you family, Brian.

  • Hi Brian,

Thanks for your kind words/support. I still feel the  need to be part of this wonderful forum and the understanding of those here is spot on. Phew!  Well I did get through the meeting and another step taken without breaking down though went for a strong coffee and cake afterwards!! It proves I can manage if I need to (what a relief!!!!). Today I have walked a few miles to blow away some cobwebs and treated myself to four new small cushions (who could resist when the pictures on them were baby hedgehog (2) and winter robin(2)). I then popped into local 'hot chocolate' shop for lunch before getting back home and sorting out plans for next weekend when my sister in law comes to stay.

Hope the story writing goes well and good luck in 'getting published' - never say never!   If it gives you pleasure then I am sure others will feel the same given the chance to read them.

Hope you and Mrs B have a peaceful weekend. It should be pretty quiet if you have so many nuts to consume!  Does Mrs B get a look in or does she favour different treats.  Best regards to you  and all the family.  Jules xx

  • Hi Sue

Thanks for your kind words especially as you have so much going on yourself just  now. Hope your session today went okay and you feel better now you know what to expect.

I got through my meeting without blabbing!  Actually think because it was buisnesslike it helped and now my life (financially at least) is a  bit more settled I can, I hope cope a little easier.  It just takes as long as it takes I suppose and its good to be able to support my children/grandchildren emotionally as they do me.  We are a small but close unit and John was a huge part of that and when my energy flags then I draw on the memories I have of how he would have done things but, at the same time, I need to move forward 'for me' if that makes any sense - I know I am rambling again ha ha.

My favourite hot chocolate and cupcake cafe was my refuge at lunch time today and just to make it worse she has begun to make fudge too and her and her husband treat customer's like long lost friends (most are on first name terms!!).  So was treated to 'tasters' of salt caramel fudge and coconut and lemon fudge - mouth watering as I type!!  I came away knowing I will be buying some soon!! Maybe an extra session at the gym will be called for.

Will potter in the garden/house later and visit the artisan/farmer's market tomorrow for my 'fix' of fresh bread and cheese.  The baker has a lovely range of cheese straws so could be a naughty weekend.

Take care and hope you feeling okay too.  Hugs  Jules xx

  • Hi Jules,

I'm glad you coped with the meeting so well and it must be some relief to know how things stand for you all. I know it must be hard to have to move on with the day to day stuff and no doubt you feel guilty if you go about things differently than you used to but finding your own way through will hopefully help in the long run. And of course you have your lovely family to support you too. Am thinking of you all.

Now, I have to say that I am very glad that I don't live near you! Before you take great offence, let me explain...  with my complete lack of will power, it would be torture being that close to hot chocolate, fudge, fresh bread and cheese!! Just writing this is making me hungry and it's only early! All you gym visits clearly resolve that problem so I hope you do indulge this morning at the market and that you enjoy your "naughty" weekend to the full!

My therapy session last night went much better than I had dared hope. She is a lovely and very professional lady who put me at ease straight away. She uses electrical current with the massage to stimulate the lymph node and vessels and started very gently. Then moved on to using suction caps to draw the skin up to free scar tissue. I had one particular hot spot that she concentrated on and although it was fairly painful to start with it certainly seemed more comfortable by the time she'd finished. Lastly she put some thin strips of tape across me which helps keep the skin stretched. When I got up after an hour and a half (!) I could certainly feel the benefit immediately and hope it lasts a few days at least, no painkillers for me this morning either. My next go is in two weeks time (she is away next weekend and I don't fancy trawling over there after work in the evenings) but I am quite encouraged from this first visit and although this is an ongoing issue at least I now know it can be managed and I can cope with it so all is good.

Having a lazy day today before dinner with my Mum later on and then another work week looms.

Have a good time at the market, have some extra for me won't you?!

    Take care  Sue x

  • Hi George,

With regard  to chestnuts I eat them raw but mostly tend to roast them under the grill. I have also boiled them and even fried them in the chip pan once I have got all the inner skin off. Quite crispy like this. Mrs B often say's I not only look like a nut, I act like one too ha ha.

    Take care my friend, Brian.
