My Journey Continues

Hi all my forum buddies.  Just wanted to post on a new thread as it is more relevant than where my journey began.  Hope to see you here. Jules

  • Nothing's happening to.tomorrow - is it? Does anyone ever hear from Beryl?  Keep safe all x

  • Hi Max

Thought you had a follow up appointment or maybe got my wires crossed (would not be the first time ha ha).

Nothing from Beryl for quite a while but hope she is doing okay too.

Am just taking it easy after busy morning at work (my excuse so that I can watch French Open Tennis!). Take it easy virtual buddy. Jules x

  • Hi Brian

Sorry that you are having 'disappearing program' problems on your computer.  Technology is fine when it works but sends us crazy when it plays up and stops us doing what we want.  Please the canons are coming on in leaps and bounds and bet you are pretty chuffed, rightly so, with the outcome. It will be lovely to have new items available for your next 'show' -maybe a chariot will be the next project and you will be able to hold 'wood wars'.

Great news about your sons's longbow success; he must have felt elated.

Have come home from work to 'batton down the hatches' as the weather for next few hours and overnight looking rather windy (praying no damage when I get up tomorrow!). Its even blowing the birds off course!!  Still apparently will be much improved after Tuesday.  Looks like I will have a following wind when I visit Mum tomorrow.

Glad you and Mrs B enjoyed a drive out and sounds as though the fruit was very well received so think we are all foodies in our own way.  Have made a few adjustments to my diet since doc picked up high BP and will be going back in a couple of weeks to show her my six week's records of 'home testing'. Hoping that she will be happier (definitely lower than when I was in her surgery!!). Took advice from the NHS website and some helpful hints from Kathy and so far seems to be better readings or perhaps I am learning to control stress ha ha.  Fingers crossed she will  be  happy with the results and I can finally be 'cut free' from regular check ups but its nice that she has shown such an interest since hubby passed away and good to know I am not wasting her time(or mine).  Sending peaceful thoughts to you and Mrs B. Take care. Jules x

  • Hi Max

It would seem I have had yet another case of a 'senior moment'.  Think I may have got caught out 'mixing' posts on which we had both commented.  Obviously need more brain food to keep me on my toes.

It must be great to have even the smallest of gaps between chemo sessions and hope Nanoknife gets confirmed sooner rather than later so that the 'little blighters' can be sent on their way post haste.

Hope the stormy winds and rain did not cause you any problems where you live. At times it felt like my roof would take off during the night but at least I had a reason to be awake!!

Have a peaceful and good day.  Jules x

  • Hi Jules,

I have had to download another program that has gone walkabout from my computer; this one was photo gallery. Dont know what is happening.Grrrrr. My brass cannon barrells turned up yesterday and today I have made six carridges and completed four of them with wheels (see photo) The carridge is only 1 1/2 inches long and the barrell is 2 inches laong so quite small. But made a templete up so can produce them fairly quickly. The worst part was the wheels as they are only about 3/8 inch diameter.

Hope you didnt suffer any damage from the strong winds yesterday. Our nut bush and decorative cherry tree was blowing about wildly and several bit of deadwood was left on the front lawn. I didnt bother going out to my garage yesterday as the lights are not that good and I need the doors open to get as much light as possible.

Just a quick note for Kathy; my cheese biscuits:D were back on offer again yesterday so have stocked up again; Brianitus is still going strong.

Take care Jules best wishes to you and your family, Brian.

  • Hi Brian

Loving the new editions to your 'arsenal' of wood products. Can imagine how satisfying it is to produce new lines though am sure Mrs B would prefer you stick to owls ha ha.

Sorry you are 'losing' programmes from your computer as this must be very very frustrating. Hope the problem sorts itself out soon or you can locate where they have gone!!!

Glad to hear Brianitus is alive and kicking.  I was very naughty on the way home from work (stressful and busy shift and felt in need to comforting energy!) and bought some butterscotch - strange, no sign of it by time I got home ha ha.

Glad the weather has calmed down(no damage round here thankfully but did feel like the roof was going to take off overnight!) and with it looking set fair for the weekend am hopeful of being outside as have a few chores (potting up/planting) I would like to complete.  My friend from work has given me a cutting of her yellow buddleia (I have pink one) which the bees and butterflies love and also a sunflower (finches love the seeds so hope I can keep it going!).  Not known for my green fingers so my garden is pretty much hit and miss but I have planted some dahlias in hubby's memory (his favourites) and now have three that are around 8 inches high so will keep fingers crossed. Would be wonderful if I could cut them in the late summer and take them to his resting place.

Visit to Mum this week was quite good as she was smiling - do so have to make the most of these times.

Sending you andMrs B best wishes for a peaceful and relaxing weekend. Jules x

  • Good afternoon Jules,

I have spent the morning and part of the afternoon sorting one pile of my timber store out. I have been very short of light cloloured timber (ash, beech, maple, ect) and have found timber I had forgotten I had. The pile is about 6 foot tall by 4 x3 foot. I have another one almost the same size plus two other smaller piles. I have more timber than I will ever use so after this next exhibition, I will get a lot of it planned up and see if I can sell some of it. I have some really nice bits and pieces, especially when a lot of it came in as bearers on the bottoms of pallets and the other was timber that people would have been thrown out for burning. The only problem is all of it was covered with fine sawdust which has built up over time so am now in need of a bath. Mrs B has tempererilly changed my nick name to Dusty Devil.

Yesterday, Mrs B not only let me take her out for another long drive in the afternoon but even asked if I would take her out for a drive in the evening. We really enjoyed it. With regard to your Dalias, my mother used to grow loads of them.she loved gardening and used to know the names of so many plants. I remember one year, she gave Mrs B a big bunch of them  and she went to smell them and this earwig  dropped right down the inside of her T shirt. I shall never forget her reaction. Panic doesnt even come near it, even though my mother was trying to help her. I was very sympathetic Jules, the more she shrieked, the more I laughed. When she finnally got rid of it, my sides hurt from laughing and she said it served me right. She was not at all impressed when I asked if she could do an action replay for me. After that she always shook any Dalias given to her.

Glad your visit to your mother was good this week. Something is eating the leaves of our strawberry plants but relutant to put any pesticide on.  Cant find any caterpillers or slugs so will have to ask my sister as she is a vey good gardener. My son was at a building site on Friday and it was found that there was a nest of bumble bees in the brickwork. The forman wanted to get some pesticide but my son told him he would not let him and had quite an argument with him over it. He told the forman to call a beekeeper who turned up later on and after inspecting the nest, agreed to go back on Saturday. One of the of the site workers then showed him four other nests on the site so the bee man said he would collect them as well. Quite proud of my son for sticking to his guns and saving the bees.

Well have rambled enough for today Jules. Take care, wishing you a good week and hope work is not too hectic, Brian

  • Apologies for jumping in on your discussion but Brian, you've done it again with your tale of Mrs.B's dahlia disaster! Never mind Dusty Devil, I imagine she has a whole range of names for you (most of them not included in the Oxford Dictionary?!!)  Sue x

  • Hi Jules,

Just a quick update. After turning some brown coloured timber today which I havent been able to identify, the fine sawdust turned my fingers yellow. However when I washed my hands, the soap bubbles turned a deep pink. Never had this happen before so wont use any more of this timber for a while until I have hopefully identified it.

I also bought some pistacheo nuts but didnt spot the fact they had used black pepper to flavour them. Boy are they hot. These are likely to last me some while as I can only eat one or two at a time. I promise I wont make that mistake again. Getting the last few bits and pieces ready for our all day exhibition on Wednesday and looking forward to it.

I hope you have a good week, kind thoughts bieng sent your way, Brian.
