My Journey Continues

Hi all my forum buddies.  Just wanted to post on a new thread as it is more relevant than where my journey began.  Hope to see you here. Jules

  • Hi Jules,

Just wanted to check in under your new thread.  I'm glad to read (on your old thread) that your grandchildren are keeping your spirits up.  Am continuing to think of you, and I too wish that PM was sorted out.  Take care.  Hope x

  • Good morning Jules,

Your need to draw a line under the last thread and start a new one is completely understandable and a good idea and the title is so apt.

I did post a reply last night but unfortunately I was writing it at the same time as it was being closed off so I got an error message which I promptly blamed on this new site but an email from the moderators this morning and a helpful link explains everything. The moderators really do a great job here especially when they put up with a rant from the likes of me so, if you are reading Lucie thank you and my appologies again for venting.

To make it short I was told by my Mum that my youngest Neice, Hannah is in hospital and undergoing tests to try and find the cause of intense pain. I was initially annoyed with my sister for not telling me as she had already been in hospital 24hrs and the hospital itself is notorious for poor care so I am worried for her  especially when, at only 19yrs she is being given Morphine for the pain. When I know more I will let you know.

In the meantime I hope all of us can help you a little as you continue your journey.

    Lots of love and hugs.

    Garf. xx

  • Oh Dear Jules I dont know what to say ,how dreadful for this to happen ,you have been coping so well too,  you must be devastated Jules I wondered if its anything to do with hubbys cancer Mesothelioma being an industrial illness I would like to explain what happened in our case as you know Tony had the same cancer because of this it can cause a few problems in the early days ,I so wish I could pm you to explain in detail .My heart goes out to you lovely lady ....Hugs sent ...Sueanne Xx

  • Oh Jules,

I am so pleased the problem has been resolved and well done for your funeral director for getting it sorted. You certainly didnt deserve to have that crop up at this late stage and must have been so disstressing both for you and your family. I just want to say I will be thinking of you all on Monday as you celebrate you dear Hubbies life. Take care brave lady, sending big hugs, Brian,

  • Oh Jules, thank goodness it has been resolved to some extent. You will carry yourself beautifully on Monday, with great dignity. Your man will always be watching over you and yours, no doubt about that honey. I have a feeling you will be a rock to others supporting them, because that's the kind of lady you are. We love you Jules, Kathy xxx
  • Hello Jules ,so glad things have been sorted and you can go ahead with arangements I can surely believe the tears of joy ..Hubby will always be with you in your heart and memory and I will be thinking of you and your family and know the feeling only too well Love and Hugs ...Sueanne Xx

  • Hi Sueanne

Yes all to do with mesothelioma and the doctor who confirmed death did not tick the box to refer to coronor!!

I mentioned this at the registration but was told it was all okay and walked away with certificates thus carrying on all the usual tasks. Needless to say the coronor was finally consulted when hubby's GP was checking paperwork for filing and found discrepancy which started the ball rolling. The rest as you would say is history but led to a very distressing day for me and the children. The necessary procedures will follow after Monday's celebration of hubby's life.  He will lay in chapel until such time as the law allows (but otherwise all remains as planned).   There will be time for investigations into the failures of the proffesionals but it is not now.

Have had children/grandchildren here  most of the day and tomorrow I will prepare the home for Monday's gathering before the service.  Feel so peaceful now - think I am all bawled out for a bit - and planning some quiet reflective time.  Thank you for being a reader/responder- so many good folk here.

    Hugs returned Jules x

  • to all my great forum buddies your responses and kind thoughts mean so much and all is quiet here now so I shall have some reflective time.  Tomorrow I have time to prepare heart and home in readiness for Monday's  'Celebration of hubby's life' and hope his journey will be as dignified in death as it has been in life.

Time to sort the 'whys and wherefors in due time' but answers will be required so no one else has to go through such distress at time of grief when it could so easily have been avoided.  Hey ho, we all make mistakes; as they say 'to err is human'. Enjoy the rest of your weekend whatever you may be up to. Kind thoughs and hugs   Jules xx

  • Well Jules Im so glad all sorted now but what a worry for you and your family at this very difficult time ..When Tony died our Gp was hereat our home as were macmillan nurse and district nurse ,a few mins after he had gone the Gp said she had to inform the coroner and the police had to come because mesothelioma is  an industrial desease within mins they came and took Tony to our Hospital in Truro he was there for 2 days the coroner said no need for a PMbecause his consultant said mesothelioma was the cause and an inquest was opened and ajourned until a later date which was 11 months later It was just read out and no questions ..I didnt get death certificate until then they had given me interim certificates to do all the things that needed to be done ie bank solicitor and things but all this made a difficult time harder on us all ,it was like a nighmare ,and all because  of  the mesothelioma sorry to babble on but needed to explane ,but it gets better in the end ...Jules im sending love and hugs for you all xxxxxxxSueanne

  • Hi Jules, I will be thinking of you on Monday, xxxxx love Kerrie xxxxx
  • Hi Jules,

I am so glad that someone had their sensible head on. Your undertaker did a good job there. At least you will get to celebrate your husbands life as and when you planned.  I will be thinking of you tomorrow and on Monday, and pray that all goes as you would wish.

    hugs Annabel. xxxxx

  • Thanks for letting me know how it went for you and I know how difficult it must be for you to recall the hardest time in your life. Just need to stay 'in the day' and honour my man.  Kids have been amazing in their courage and we will continue to support each other.  Our contact at the funeral directors deserves a medal - its the first time they had to deal with this particular situation and she will continue to be our go between in sorting our the formalities that follow  in the weeks ahead.

Zack experienced his first outing in the snow today (did not last long but grandchildren loved seeing it).Children staying here overnight Monday so have readied spare rooms.  Hubby's siblings came over from Isle of Man Thursday evening and it looks as though it will be the funeral before I see them as no contact as yet.. His brother and sister in law go back day after funeral and his sister is planning on catching up with old workmates the day afterwards and then returning too.

Well, a few more bits to do before getting some shut eye and an early start tomorrow at the launderette following by my usual Sunday  morning stroll(first Farmers'market of the New Year to drop in at).

Hope all is well with you and the family. Take care Jules x
