Being you - does anyone have any tips or advice on how to make things better after finishing treatment? There are so many things I can't do now

I joined because after finishing Radiation early March, I am not me there are so many things I can't do now like going out days my house work, having to sleep in afternoon, permanently in fear of reoccurrence, having very little energy. I would be grateful if anyone that experienced  this and has found ways to make things better by supplements or reading helpful ideas I would be very grateful for any ideas.

  • Your experience will be shared by many of us with cancer at any of its stages. Radiotherapy is supposed not to give you fatigue long term but Ive been tired ever since major surgery and radiotherapy. Not as much though as during first 6 months. So what have I found helpful?. Having a regular bedtime and getting up time, set your alarm and force yourself to get up and make breakfast. Eat healthy balanced meals that you've cooked yourself. ( plate with half vegetables, quarter carbohydrates, quarter protein) Get fresh air each day even if you can only manage a 10 minute walk. Try not to nap during the day but certainly take rest beaks when you need them. Avoid alcohol which can sap your energy and too many sugary foods, which I crave now but did not before cancer. Keep in touch as much as possible with friends and family - who oddly enough seem to steer clear when you have cancer. The fear of recurrence is real enough to wear you down, and it might be helpful to talk things through with your GP / Oncologist or phone the very helpful and knowledgable nurses here 0808 800 4040. Life will improve even if its not as it was before.
