Moving on after remission - how long does it take to start feeling like yourself again?

I try not to worry my lymphoma will return. I was told I'm in remission 11th March but still feel really tired . I just want to feel like my old self. How long does it take ? Thanks x

  • Hello TLJ22

It's great news to hear that you were told your lymphoma was in remission a few weeks ago. I'm sure that treatment was probably difficult at times, but hopefully this news has given you reassurance that those difficult times were worth the struggle.

Many people wonder after treatment when they will begin to feel like their old selves again. It's a really difficult question to answer. How long it will be before you feel less tired will depend on what treatments you've been through and what, if any, medication(s) you're still taking. Hopefully, over the coming weeks and months, you'll begin to feel your energy levels improving to a better level, and you'll begin to feel more like your old self. Some people find that they never return to that version of themselves, but that's not to say the new version is any worse or less than before. Cancer changes people. Hopefully, things will improve, and you'll be able to embrace any changes that are lasting.

Don't be afraid to contact your specialist cancer nurse if you have any questions specific to your treatment and continued recovery. In the meantime, if it would help to chat things through with one of our nurses, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, informarion and support they can.

Sending my best wishes for your continued recovery,
