Ten years cancer free milestone reached. Just had my very last CT scan and have mixed emotions

Hello buddies

I just want to report that I have just reached my ten years cancer free milestone. I have just had my very last CT scan .

Having my last scan has mixed emotions, on the one hand, it's  a little nerve racking to think that you are no longer being watched over. On the other hand, it feels like I am truly free of being a "cancer patient' , I am now a normal human being enjoying life, minus one kidney. No more preparing for scans, having blood tests in October for scans in November. No more not being able to plan any trips during those months. Hooray!

  • Hello Jeanne

Congratulations on reaching your 10 year milestone! It's great to hear that the specialists are happy that you no longer need regular monitoring but from a patients point of view it's perfectly understandable that this has final scan has left you with mixed emotions.

It sounds like you're focussing on the positives which is great. Maybe you'll be able to plan a special trip for next autumn to continue celebrating!

Wishing you many years of health, happiness and adventuring!

    Best wishes,
