Taking blood tests from right side of my arm 2 years after breast cancer diagnosis

Hi 2 years ago I had breast cancer on the right side so I had to do a treatment and the treatment finished in July 2023. The doctor said that I can't take any blood tests on the right side of my arm so it's been more than two years now so can I take a blood test from the right side of my arm?

  • Hi X123,

I had a lumpectomy 16 years ago and a double mastectomy 15 years ago and now have bilateral Lymphoedema. I have been advised to ensure that I don't have injections, blood tests or blood pressure taken from my arms, even after 16 years. Have you asked your doctor or breast care nurse?

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi ,I had breast cancer in 2020,lumpectomy  and all my Lympthnodes removed from under my right arm. This caused me to.devlop mild lymphedema in my right arm,and I was told to never have bloods taken ,or blood pressures, injections ,drips etc ..any work done in my right arm indefinitely...meaning never . Id speak to your breast care team  about it,they should be able to answer your questions if your unsure about what you have been told . Hope you get some answers soon .
