Nearly 12 months in from my lumpectomy and radiotherapy, I'm having symmetry and reduction in both breast tomorrow. Anxious and excited ! Has anybody had similar last surgery and how was it ?
Hi Greece, I have had the excision biopsy and diagnosis and just need to have radio therapy now. I had the symmetry and reduction at the same time and I am 7 weeks post surgery. I was nervous too. It was my second op only ever in my life. It went really well. I have been surprised how little pain I had and didn't need the strong painkillers except for the first couple of days. I won't lie it has been hard to cope with sleeping on my back and wearing the compression bras especially as the weather has been so hot but I got through it and I am now in a non wired sports bra. I have gone from a 42G to a 40D and I think I will go down a bit more as I think I still have some inflammation. I don't regret this decision at all. I can at last go and get a bra that actually fits instead of making do. I still have to come to terms mentally and as I say haven't yet had my radiotherapy. How did that go for you?
Thank you for your reply. Had surgery yesterday all well and going home today. Pain minimal at present expecting it to get worse next few days. They also taking the drains out soon
My radiotherapy went really well. Last day I was sore and blistered .they Said can happen on large breast area but the dressing and cream worked with beers wouldn't have known it was done.
Good luck with it .it'll be over in no time . Mentally takes a little longer but for me yesterday felt like closure and today I feel great xxxx let me know how your radiotherapy goes xx
