Life after bone marrow transplant

Hi I had a transplant at the beginning of December 2024 and I'm really struggling to adapt to any kind of normality. I have to attend two hospital appointments per week for bloods and also have a VC. The amount of tablets I have to take makes me feel sick. It's all just so overwhelming.

Has anyone else felt like this ?

  • Welcome to our online forum Janice, although I'm sorry to hear how difficult life has been for you since you had your bone marrow transplant.

You've been through a lot and with this continuation of appointments and medication going on for the foreseeable future, it's completely understandable, and natural, to be feeling this way.

Hopefully some of our members who have had similar experiences on their cancer journeys will be along soon to share their stories and advice but if you'd like to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very understanding and will do all they can to support you at this time.

I hope this information we have about life after a transplant, coping with the side effects and looking after your mental health will prove useful as well but in the meantime, we're thinking of you Janice and we'll always be here for you when times get tough.

    Kind regards,
