Second year anniversary

Hi special people

I've just had my second year mammogram after surgery and radiotherapy. I am feeling quite panicky as for some stupid reason I have got it into my head that it won't be good news and I will be recalled.  Why am I like this and how can I calm down

  • Hello JanKay

I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling so anxious following your recent mammogram. What you're feeling is perfectly understandable and I know there will be other members here who will be able to identify with the scanxiety that you've been feeling.

As you already know, waiting for test results can be a difficult time and perhaps more so when you've already been through the process of tests, diagnosis and treatment previously. It's natural that you're worried about the what ifs. It's OK to acknowledge that feeling of uncertainty but try to focus on what you do know.

I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk with one of our nurses about how you're feeling. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your mammogram results and there will be good news. Keep in touch JanKay and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
