Not feeling myself after finishing treatment for DCIS. Very emotional. Can someone help me understand?

Hi, I was diagnosed with dcis in the summer. Had surgery in the autumn then radiotherapy. I’m still feeling quite tender and I have lumps which are tender to. I’ve got so many questions and worries. But I feel that I shouldn’t have because they caught it early. I just keep going over and over it in my head and emotionally tears come at the slightest thing. I just need some to understand and help me.

  • Hello Molly-me

I'm sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with DCIS last summer and that after completing your radiotherapy you're still struggling with some discomfort.

It's completely natural that you have questions and concerns about what you've been through and what this may mean for you in the future. Please don't feel that you can't ask your breast care nurse for a chat. I'd really encourage you to give them a call and explain that you have some concerns which you'd like to talk through with them. Hopefully, they will be able to give you the answers and reassurance you need to move forward.

Alternatively if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday  9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

I hope that as you continue to heal physically from your treatment and with some support and reassurance from the breast care team that things improve for you.

    Best wishes,
