Eye problems after radiotherapy on a nasal ballioma.

I had radiotherapy for a ballioma on my right nostril and this affected my eyes, in particular my right eye. I have lost my eye lashes and tear duct (right eye) and have been told I need ectropion surgery to improve the eye lid position.

My eye is constantly watering and my nose drips at the same time.  Has anyone else had this problem or had ectropion surgery?  Thanks for reading this.

  • Hello kingfisher60024,

I am sorry to hear that radiotherapy has affected your eyes and you have as a result lost your eye lashes and tear duct and that you will need ectropion surgery to improve the eyelid position. It must be rather uncomfortable for you to feel that your eye is constantly watering and your nose dripping at the same time. I hope that you will hear from the experiences of others who have had the same problem or who have had ectropion surgery and I hope that if you consider having this surgery that it will improve things greatly for you. There is useful information on the NHS page on ectropion which will tell you more about the surgery.

I hope this helps and if you wanted to speak to one of our cancer nurses about this, feel free to get in touch with them on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they will be happy to talk things through with you.

    Best wishes,
