Throat cancer

I am niw a year and a half after what was called the most extensive treatment of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

I still have no Sylvia and the build up of mucus at night is horrible.

The fatigue is really bad and I can fall asleep when people are speaking to me which is embarrassing and ignorant on my behalf . The fatigue is so bad on days that I can't get out of bed and i do florce myself but walking down and up the stairs is like climbing a mountain.

Is this normal or is it just me?.

I have to admit that it is really getting me down now.

  • Hello Amigo

I'm sorry to hear that you've been through treatment for throat cancer. I know from reading many posts here on the forum how harsh this treatment regime can be and how difficult the side effects can continue to be for quite some time afterward.

Have you spoken with your hospital team or GP about the problems that you've mentioned? If not then please do as it's important to get these things checked.

You might find it helpful to have a look through some of the posts on this thread where many members have shared their journies through treatment with head and neck cancers. I know lots of the members there have shared tips for coping with the lack of saliva and build-up of mucus on that thread so hopefully, you might find some tips you can try.

If it would help to talk with one of our nurses for some advice and support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
