How often should I be checked.

Hi,  I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer last June.   I had a left mastectomy and axilliary clearance as it had spread to 4 out of nine lymph glands in the August.   Over the winter I had 3 Red Devils and nine Palitaxol.   Then 10 days of radiotherapy.     I couldn’t cope with Abemaciclib so I gave it after 2 cycles.    That was at the end of May.    I have only had one CT scan last July and my oncologist says I don’t need another one as I am clear.   I won’t see the surgeon until next year so I won’t get another mammogram until then.     I feel I have been left.   I am 72 years old and can’t look forward.   Does everyone feel this way or is it just me.    This is the second time I have had breast cancer in the same breast only it was stage one and twenty four years ago.  I was welll looked after at the time. Is this due to my age or what.   What else am I think.

  • That's normal, the once a year thing. We were shocked too. Not sure if there's science behind it or if it's the NHS cheaping out, but it's like that across the board. They will see you promptly if you have any concerns in the meantime, though. So if you find anything or have symptoms, then see them quickly.
