Alan's Throat Cancer

Well 14 weeks post radiotherapy we had the all clear the back of tongue and lymph node tumour gone. However Alan still has sire throat which feels tight, no saliva and developed lymphoedema around Adams apple.  Unfortunately our hospital does not have a lymphoedema clinic so on phone our oncology nurse told him to massage daily.

I have booked him a private massage with a nearby clinic. What are people's opinion o  the neck massage collars you can buy.

My nephew had same cancer and the hospital where he was treated provided him one as well as weekly massages

  • It's great to hear Alan has been given all the clear Jane. This must have been wonderful news to receive, although I'm sorry about the issues he's been having since finishing his radiotherapy.

This must be very frustrating, but hopefully the private massage will help Alan with the lymphoedema. I hope this information we have about lymphoedema will prove useful as well.

Hopefully some of our members who have contended with similar issues after finishing their treatment will be along soon to share their experiences and advice, but if you'd like to discuss any of this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m (except bank holidays).

    Best wishes to you both,
