Any ladies struggling with flushes from tamoxifen / hormone therapy read further breast cancer

Hello beautiful ladies warriors 

I have been taking tamoxifen for two years flushes started only lately but wilinung me out severe 

my Gp prescribed clonodine which worked great for about a year they stopped working 

I have now been out on 1 a night gabupentin flushers have reduced to hardly anything

    Hi laraj, I'm suffering severe hot flushes since since diagnosis in January. As my breast cancer is oestrogen positive, I'm no longer allowed to take hrt. I'm currently due to have my third chemo out of seven. Will then have mastectomy, followed by radiotherapy. I too will be going on hormone blockers for 5-10 years. This is quite concerning, especially as I'm already suffering flushes now, it would seem this is likely to get worse. I'm pleased to hear your gp had prescribed something that is now working for you. Not sure if I could take anything, while on chemo. Xx

    hope my pist helps you in the future when you start the tablets I have been ok for two years on tamoxifen but now the side affects have started thick and fast they are driving me crazy it’s the flushes I can cope with everything else I honestly stumbled on finding the gabupentin it’s a life saver

    Hi laraj, thought I'd give you a quick update. I went to have my pre chemo blood tests at the chemo unit yesterday. While there I asked if they could talk to the pharmacist about my hot flushes and to see if gabupentin would be suitable for me. They suggested a different medication that would be better for me, as I am pr positive, er positive and HER2 positive. Apparently the one suggested won't affect my hormones. I then had a chat with gp who has agreed to prescribe it, although she said it can take up to three weeks to kick in. But at least there is light at the end of the tunnel. I only thought to seek advice on the hot flushes after reading your post, so thank you for that. I've been fine on the chemo, it has been the hot flushes I've found so difficult, as it affects my sleep so much. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Xx

    I’m so happy you are doing well on the chemo and fantastic news you are getting help with the flushes , I have been through a few tabkets for flushes which one did they give if you don’t mind me asking as I’m finding that ones up to now work for a while then stop then I need to change so would be good to no x

    They've prescribed one called Venlafaxine, will let you know how it goes. I also have blood pressure that is generally a bit on the low side, so this also has to be taken into consideration. It's great that you have now found one that has worked so quickly. Xx
