I've been on tamoxifen for 7 years and have another 3 to go. For me, the hot flushes are unbearable. Do the hot flushes stop when you stop taking tamoxifen? Or does it depend on the person?
Yes 7 years with no respite. But now I've just had enough it's a weird mixture of hot flushes, sweating buckets and then feeling cold and shivery as my clothes get so damp feom sweating. Horrible horrible
im exactly the same they come with no warning it’s embarrassing, the doctor put me on clonodine tabkets tgese helped massively for a few months but have stopped I working as I’m used to them now
I’m waking up in the nights drenched, have you found anything that helps ? X
Mine have started bad for about a month or so before this it was occasionally now it’s bad bad bad every few hours drenched can’t sleep waking up soaking my hair is even wet the last few weeks I’m embarrassed it’s making me depressed x
Lara that sounds terrible surely there's something out there that can help after all there must be plenty of people taking it ,have you been back to the Docs to explain the what they gave you has stopped working they must have other things to offer ,also maybe you could ring the hospital where you were treated or Macmillan they must have come across this before ,I really hope you get sorted x
I honestly thought I was through the worst I’m so positive normally nothing gets me but this is really getting me down , my gP said that there’s not anything else they can do to go back in a month
I may call my oncologist next week to see what she says as this can’t go on debating stopping the tamoxifen but that’s dangerous can’t win x
Also, would the flushes get better if you stopped the tamoxifen? That's what I really want ro know? Does tamoxifen make flushes worse or are these just normal menopause hot flushes? Does anyone know?
