How do I move on

Hi I was diagnosed with an Atypical lung tumour back in 2017 at age 29 luckily it was caught before it spread and was removed but every day since then I have the nagging feeling that every lump bump and cough is the cancer coming back will this feeling of dread ever go away does anyone else feel this way?

  • Hello Natc88

I'm sorry to hear that you've previously had a cancer diagnosis. It's good to hear that this was successfully treated at the time.

Many members here will understand that nagging feeling that you've described. Learning to live with this can be difficult but it's good that you've recognised there is an issue and reached out for some advice and support.

It may be a good idea to talk with someone about how you're feeling and if you've not previously had any counselling support it's worth perusing this. Organisations such as Maggie's can provide psychological support for people impacted by a cancer diagnosis or you may want to make an appointment with your GP to discuss things and see what options are available in your local area. If you still have contact with your team at the hospital or a clinical nurse specialist then you can talk with them about support options as well.

Alternatively, if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I do hope that you find the support you need to move forward.

    Best wishes,

  • I know the feeling. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s in June 2020, breast cancer in December 2020 surgery end of January 2021, radiotherapy in April 2021. COPD & now work related stress, depression & an ety.  I have recently lost my job of 15 years to ILL Health capability. So fed up benefits system is a minefield. And now have to live like a peasant
