I had my first mammogram after ending a year of treatment for Grade 2 Her2+ breast cancer. Its nearly three weeks and not received results yet. I am fearing the worst of course despite everyone teling me no news is good news. How do you cope?

Hi Les24
Congratulations on getting through your treatment. I'm 6 years post diagnosis for breast cancer and have had a mammogram every year. I was grateful for these mammograms, I did not dread them as, if my cancer did return, then I knew it would be caught really early. Being monitored every year made me feel safe and looked after.
I'm now discharged and back to normal 3 year screening, and that does bring me some anxiety as my safety net is not there anymore.
Try and look at these mammograms as a chance to connect with the team who is looking after you, safe in the knowledge that they have your back.
As for waiting for results, some of mine took 2 months to come back, I knew however that if there was something wrong that I would hear back sooner.
Try not to worry x
