Weight gain

Hi, I have a dearly loved friend who has had treatment for cancer.  She has pasted the 5 years survival, which is fantastic.  She has to eat soft or liquidised foods and also has a thickening agent for drinks.  She sees a dieitciian, not sure how often, but is finding it really difficult to gain weight.  She has had conversations with her dietician about this and there was talk about a pump and supplements which she doesnt want.  Is there anything else that we can help her with to gain weight bearing in mind the eating problems she has.  Thank you for reading.  Any help at all would be appreciated.  Best wishes to you all with your journeys.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's situation. It's clear from your post that you care for your friend very much and I'm sure she is grateful for your support.

We do have some information about tips for putting on weight on our website that may be of help but you might also like to speak with one of our team of nurses for some advice and support. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do encourage your friend to keep in touch with her Dietician as well so that they can continue to monitor her weight and offer any support that may be appropriate.

I hope things improve for her soon.

    Best wishes,
