Ibandronic acid by infusion

Hi there

Please can I ask if anyone has had any jaw or mouth issues with taking ibandronic acid by infusion? I'm due to start this treatment and was planning to take the tablet but the infusion would suit me so much better. However my healthcare professional said there is a 1% chance of irreparable damage to the jaw and mouth with the infusion (rising to 3%) which can have a permanent effect on eating and drinking.

I know 1%seems very low but I'm trying to gather as much info & insight as I can to make an informed decision

Many thanks

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling worried about possible side effects ahead of starting a new treatment. It's understandable that you want to be as well-informed as you can ahead of making the final decision to proceed with this or not.

I've not been able to find any posts relating to the topics you mention but you might want to look for the term Ibandronic in the search bar above to see if there are any other posts that are useful in helping you to make a decision.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Whatever treatment option you choose, I hope things go well.

    Best wishes,
