Colouring hair after chemo

I am due to finish chemo in 2 weeks. I still have kept most of my hair having used cold caps but would like to plan when I can say goodbye to the grey/white which is already growing on my crown and then have just the one colour head of hair.

When can I use natural hair dyes like henna? And when can I use permanent colour?

    CMK1962, unlike you I lost all of my hair but when it started growing back I was desperate to put some colour on it. I have coloured my hair at home for years and years. 

    I looked at lots of dyes and bought one that didn't have certain ingredients in it but I didn't like it. I then went to the hair dressers and discussed with them. The owner in particular has had a fair bit of experience as his mother lost all of her hair through chemo too.

    He said that dyes used by saloons are much more gentle and there was no problem using them after chemo. 

    I am not qualified to give you the go ahead to dye your hair but it might be worth you having the discussion with your hairdresser too.

    Hi I am a citizen guild qualified hairdresser  I passed many years ago witj credit.  I lost all my hair,its grown back and getting longer now. I to was grey when it started to grow back and I hated it. But I waited 6 mths  before I dyed my hair,as I knew the chemical changes and damage  a dye can do  to the hair.  I just wore a wig when I went out,that was like my original hair,  and turbins and scarfs indoors. 

    I use a permanent hair dye as a semi permanent dye never gave a good coverage of my greys,so that's why i waited  and was patient about it. My hair is so much better condition for waiting the lengh of time I waited. 

    Some hairdressers will say its OK to dye your hair after 3 mths, and although it won't fall out if you do,it realy is beneficial for your hair if you wait another 3 nths.Hope this helps  you to decide on when you colour your hair.

    Hi do you know if its safe to use permanent dye if taking aromatose inhibitor letrazole.

    Well I'm On Accord Brand letrazole and I use a permanent hair dye,I've been on letrazole for 2 years so far,no problems  using  permanent hair dye.  Hope that helps.
