Joint pain post Chemo/Radiotherapy

Hi, Has anyone else had joint pain post Chemo/radio.

I had stage 4 prostate cancer with a PSA of 67 and it had spread to the bladder and lymph nodes. Treatment was very successful and it is all but gone with a PSA of 0.02.

I finished Chemo 6 months ago and radiotherapy 2 months ago but I'm still undergoing hormone therapy.

My issue is joint pain in my knees and fingers especially in the morning, I also have had Bursitis of each elbow and now in my right knee. It's not debilitating but it is painful and it takes time for me to get going. I'm 55 and in an active job so I'm hoping this will get better. My consultant and GP reckon it's not related but I never had any issues before my treatment.

Has anyone else had anything similar post treatment and did it improve?

Thanks Steve

  • Hello stevemcc and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry you've had these issues, but it's great to hear how well your treatment has gone. Bone problems can be a side effect of hormone therapy and you can read more here. Your consultant and GP would be best to address your concerns and whether these issues can improve. There are also some tips on managing Bursitis here, which I hope might be useful.

    Best wishes,
