Oesophagus removed, guidance re cold medication

My husband had his oesophagus removed back in 2019 and has had problems with hurnias caused by the ops which he's now waiting for further surgery on. He's developed a bad cold with cough but I'm unsure what medication he should take due to not having oesophagus. Does anyone know

I'm sorry to hear that your husband is unwell at the moment. The best people to speak to for advice about this would be his  GP or clinical nurse specialist. But if you're unable to get hold of them for advice then do speak to your local pharmacist as they should be able to help.

I hope that he's feeling better soon.
