Post stage 1a melanoma removal

Hi all, i had a 0.3 melanoma removed with a wle at  the end of last year. The plastic surgeon said it appeared the 0.3 lesion was removed in the biopsy and what was left was in situ. The surgery was successful.  You will probably think i am getting in a state over nothing, but i am getting in a state about getting another melanoma. I suffer with depression and anxiety and being outdoors is so important to my mental health. I have read that you must cover up all skin, but i love walking and gardening. I have invested in a good suncream and do not intend to ever sit in the sun. My walks i can manage so that i am in shaded areas but obviously will have some time in the sun. It is a lovely day today and i am longing to go in the garden. How do you all manage. Do you dare to wear a short sleeved tshirt, albeit covered in sunscreen for a short time. Am i over thinking it?

  • I'm really glad your surgery was successful Duchess although I'm sorry for the stress and worry another potential melanoma diagnosis is causing.

Many of our members know how challenging it can be to cope with such thoughts and fears after completing a cancer journey so you are not alone and hopefully some of our melanoma members will be along soon to offer you their support and advice.

For further information and support, it may be worth heading over to Melanoma UK.

    Kind regards.
