Life insurance advice

Hi

I hope I'm OK to post this on here, but I wondered if anyone can advise me please. I turned 60 in November and my life insurance expired, so I've been looking into taking out a new one. However, yesterday, I had a routine dentist appointment and my dentist noticed a dark patch, like a bruise, on the roof of my mouth. As I didn't know how long it had been there, he has arranged to see me again in 3 weeks time. If it's still there, he will refer me to a specialist. I'm presuming, and hoping, it's just bruising from something I've eaten, but I'm aware that oral cancer would be one of his main concerns, although he didn't say this. My question is, do I need to wait to see what happens before taking out life insurance, or can I answer the medical questions, without mentioning this? The application asks if I've been referred to a specialist, it doesn't ask if there's any actual concerns at the moment.

Thank You

  • Hello Lizzie1960,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum and I hope that you will hear from some of our members who have been in a similar position before and can give you life insurance advice.

There is information on our website here about life insurance and perhaps it would be a good idea to give your financial adviser a call so he can check the exact conditions of the policy you are considering taking and tell you more about what you should mention in your application. It's always best to be truthful when answering medical questions but your financial adviser will be able to go through your policy in detail and give you specific advice on what to do.

    Best of luck with this!

    Best wishes,
