Back to work after breast cancer

HI

I would like to ask you what yours experience of returning to work after one side mastectomy/remove lymph node. I have had chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy.I finished my radiotherapy 6 weeks ago and I was told to contact a physical therapist after this time and the radiotherapist will be in touch with me about how is going my recovery. It has been 7 months since I am not working, self isolation due the covid -19. I think I should be looking for a part-time job at the beginning because it will be hard for me after such a long break and treatment. The second thing is my arm....I move normally but it's still tight so probably without heavy lifting and pushing all the time as it was in my previous job.In a few days another lockdown starts, so I'm generally concerned,I am afraid I will still be exposed to a high risk of the virus

if I start working. I know that the doctor's advice will be the most important but maybe someone could write what he thinks ?

Best wishes to all forum members...

  • Hello Pola7,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Some of the tips here may help loosen the pain in your arm and maintain your general wellbeing, which will be important as the new lockdown begins. It's good that you're thinking of looking for part-time work. It might be a good idea to contact your physical therapist so you can find out how to proceed with getting back into work. That support will help you stay focused on what you want to achieve. Hopefully other members will be able to share their experiences as well.

    Best wishes,
