Tongue biopsy / surgery and eating.

Ive got a tongue biopsy in three days, although there is a chance they remove the whole granular tumor.

I had a similar provedure 10 years ago, and although that time it was benign I really struggled to recover and eat and developed an eating disorder. As a result of which I lost the vast majority of my teeth and the lower protuon of my bowel.

Has anyone struggled to eat following tongue surgery or biopsy. Has anyone any advice?

  • Hello Mageesmum

I've just noticed that you'd not had a response to your post and if I'm correct I think that you're going into hospital to have your biopsy, or removal, tomorrow.

I know that we've a number of members here who have had oral surgery that has meant eating was a painful process through recovery. I think that as you've been through this before, and developed some longer term eating problems as a result, that it's important to talk things through with the team who are responsible for your care. Do let them know about your concerns and ask for any advice that they can offer.

Hopefully your procedure tomorrow will go smoothly and recovery won't be as difficult as it was last time but keep in touch Mageesmum and we'll do our best to support you through this.

    Best wishes,
