Mineral sun protection recommendation please

I finished 23 sessions of radiotherapy - 15 standard and 8 boost- for breast cancer. I'm now looking at moisturiser and sun protection to wear 24/7 moving forward please. I'm fair skinned to start with and hide from the sun as prone to getting burnt through clothes! Already wear factors 50 or 100 but  been advised that a mineral based one would be better for me because of the radiotherapy. I just wondered if anyone used something they'd recommend please? I've also been told by the radiologist that I can get some lotions on prescription because of the radiation treatment. Had anyone done this and if so,what have you been prescribed?

Thanks in anticipation.

  • I'm sorry that no-one has got back to you on this yet Pennfold but hopefully my reply will allow other members who have been in a similar position that may not have seen your post the first time round to have a look and hopefully share their recommendations with you.

Our cancer nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you'd like to have a quick chat with them about this as well.

I hope the lotions you can get on prescription and our members advice help you find the right sun protection for your skin.

    All the best,

  • Hey there

My friend who had radiotherapy said she's used  Senté Pollution Shield Broad Spectrum Sunscreen before and loved it. Not sure it would go to a high enough SPF for you but always worth a look!
