Holiday insurance with cancer

Hi there,

Hope everyone is well :)

my mum has been recently diagnosed with bowel cancer, with metastases spread. She has her first appointment with the oncologist a week before she goes on holiday to Spain (middle of September) we are unsure who she should use for her holiday insurance, as she wouldn’t of started any treatment when she’s on holiday? The oncologist has said to mum that she will receive treatment once she is home from her holiday.

Mum really wants to go on holiday, and she’s well for now and she feels fine (she’s so strong!) she does have a stoma.

Does anyone know of any holiday insurance company,

she is a cancer patient, and a stoma patient?

thank you

this is all so new to us, my mums the first one in our family with cancer so it’s extremely  new to us.

  • Hi sarah20199,

I'm very sorry to read about your mum - although glad to hear she is feeling well enough for the holiday.

There is a bit of information on getting travel insurance that you can read about here.

Otherwise, hopefully any others who have recently got travel insurance will be along here soon to share their experiences. Do also feel free to search the forum for others who have discussed it on here.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi Sarah,

I took my mum on holiday to a Barcelona earlier this year and insured her with MIA travel insurance. She has Pancreatic cancer is on palliative care. They were really helpful and we had a lot of peace of mind from getting her insured  - thankfully we didn’t need it, So I can’t comment what their claims procedure is like.

it was all done over the phone and documents were then Emailed straight through. It wasn’t cheap but we were just amazed we could insured, and for a last holiday worth every penny.

  • Hi,

I have several friends who are cancer patients and they all use Insurancewith - make sure you get a telephone quote as completing the information online doesn't always ask for all the information and may lead to an incorrect quote or being refused cover.
