hi guys

im 34 years of age, I’ve had a major operation for testicular cancer that spread up to my lymph nodes. I’ve had a testicle removed, an 8 hour operation to remove lymph nodes and 9 weeks of BEP chemotherapy.

This finished at Christmas.

Im now in the recovery process and finding that I’m in continent and very tried and slower than I once was. I don’t seem as active at all and can’t motive myself to get to work let alone anything else and constantly feel ill.

i don’t claim any benefits but wondering if there is anything that I can to help me.

Hi bigkev i don't know what benefits you can get, once you have Cancer you are classed as disabled, don't know if this helps,. You should be able to get something though, try citizens advice,.

I couldn’t work following my treatment and successfully claimed for ESA and PIP. Luckily for me I am aware of the benefits available as I’ve worked with people with disabilities, but if you are not CAB or Macmillan can help you. It does take a bit of time to sort it out, but be persistent and get medical evidence together (proof of diagnosis etc) as that makes it much more straightforward. The fact you have had chemo should fast track it. It is a specific question on the ESA (employment support allowance) paperwork. I got a letter from my surgeon. Good luck
