So my mum was diagnosed in Feb this year with Stage 4 GBM. She has recently started her chemotherapy and radiotherapy (on Monday), but this has made her incredibly sick so she isn't eating. She's been admitted to hospital so they can work out why she's been SO sick so early on and try and control it. I've spent the week away from Uni (I'm doing a Masters) to help keep the house running and help look after her with my brother and Dad. I've recently been offered my dream job, but it is in Birmingham where I go to Uni, and my family live in London. I've accepted it- (my mum told me to keep on living my life and take every opportunity), BUT I'm meant to be starting in a weeks time. I have two exams the week after that, which would have been doable- but I feel so overwhelmed with what to do.
My question is- should I tell my new boss about Mum? I don't want sympathy or special considerations but if it means I can start a week later then surely it's worth it? I just don't want them to change their mind about hiring me if they think I'll have to have time off or won't perform well. Sorry, I just didnt know who else to ask, really not sure what to do.
