Hello Janey3.  Welcome to the forum.  Who is it for whom you are caring - I think you missed out a word which is easily done when you are upset whilst posting.  If the lady for whom you are caring has an infection then a doctor should be prescribing appropriate medication to deal with it.  Sudocreme is fine for skin that needs soothing but an infection needs something more.  I cannot understand a district nurse who will not help with cleaning the wound; something is going wrong here.  I think you might find it helpful to ring the nurses here (Freefone 0808 800 4040 Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) and you can give them the full story with details.  Don't delay as you appear to be in a very difficult situation and they will be able to advise you about what should be done.  Best wishes.  Annie
