Well, I believe they usually like to give results face to face.  If the results were bad you would presumably not want them to contact you and how would that affect your holiday - you would be worrying throughout your hols.   I can understand it is bad timing to go on holiday with this hanging over you but (a) I don't think they would give you the results by phone (this has been discussed before on this forum) and (b) it is better to get them face to face so they can explain in detail how - hopefully - all was clear and give you any further instructions for monitoring.
